Hi Moms, loved this panel. I am planning trip and looking at trying something new, what is one of the best character meals not in one of the parks We are looking for something to do our first night.. Thanks for all the help!!

Hello Catherine!  There are only a few options to dine with characters for dinner outside of the parks.  Up until recently, our family had a tradition of starting off our Disney vacation with a dinner at Chef Mickey's located at the Contemporary resort.  Seeing Mickey & Friends upon arrival really set the tone for our vacation!

If you'd prefer to meet with Cinderella and Prince Charming, you may want to consider Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner located in the Grand Floridian.  We also enjoy this dinner and the food has always been awesome.

There is also the Garden Grove which is located at the Swan.  I have never eaten here so I can't provide many details other than there will be two characters each evening (allears.net lists the characters as Timon and Rafiki Monday-Friday and Goofy and Pluto on the weekends) which are subject to change.

If you need to do further research, you can visit the restaurants page on disneyworld.com.  You'll notice there are filters on the left side of the page you can use to zero down on your choices.  For character dining, filter on "Dining Experience" followed by "Character Dining."

I hope this helps - Diane
