Hi Corinne, welcome to planDisney!
Glad to hEAR you're planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation this summer. My family thinks with our stomachs and nothing says summer like DOLE Whips and Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bars!
I do love a good Monte Cristo. While I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying one on Disney property just yet, just reading through the ingredients on page 30 of my
Delicious Disney: Walt Disney World: Recipes and Stories from The Most Magical Place on Earth cookbook gets my taste buds tingling. That combination of salty meat sandwiched between pixie-dusted bread is worth searching for.
My friends and I were recently discussing dining plans for our September ladies' trip. A member of my traveling party shares your desire to enjoy a Monte Cristo during our trip and we all went down the Monte Cristo rabbit hole! I hope you'll find our discoveries helpful. In the
My Disney Experience mobile app, the 50th Anniversary Sips and Bites Guide (scroll down on the homepage til you see the 50th Anniversary Logo --> click "Explore the Guide" --> scroll down and click "Magic Kingdom Dining" under the "50th Anniversary Sips and Bites Guide") lists a "Monte Cristo Sandwich" as a featured entree, found at the
Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom park. Another friend confirmed Monte Cristo's presence on the
menu as recently as December, though it is now noticeably absent. <<sigh>> Rumor has it a turkey shortage is to blame for its removal from the menu, which may or may not be temporary. Just in case, my group plans to secure an
advance dining reservation at the Plaza Restaurant when reservations open 60 days in advance. Worst case scenario, we drown our sorrows in a "Cheers to 50 years!" sundae while enjoying views of Cinderella Castle. Sounds like a new dream to me!
Did you know that the Monte Cristo is a cousin of the Croque Monsieur? If this toasted ham and cheese alternative sounds good to you, it can be found at
Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in the French pavilion of EPCOT's World Showcase and
Primo Piatto, the quick-service restaurant at Disney's Riviera Resort.
When searching for a specific food item on Walt Disney World Resort property, Corinne, it's helpful to know you can tap the magnifying glass at the bottom of the My Disney Experience app home page to do a word-specific search. I'm sending powdered sugar thoughts that our search for 'Monte Cristo' is successful by August.
Plan magic; planDisney.
