We loved the dining plan on our honeymoon- getting high priced entrees &desserts at every meal. But we will have our 4 & 6 year old with us next, whom don't eat a lot & I don't want having desserts every day. Is the dining plan a good value for

    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel to seek advice on what might work well for your family in regards to dining. While every family is different in their preferences, I personally do not purchase the dining plans for our family vacations. We did have the dining plan on our honeymoon, as well, for the very reason you mentioned, but it just isn't worth it for us as a family with small children.

Don't get me wrong, they can be a great value for some, but since my kids are rather picky and don't tend to eat a lot at mealtimes, we opt to go without the dining plans. We find that paying out of pocket allows us the flexibility to occasionally split meals for the younger kids. We also do not like our kids eating dessert at every meal and by paying on our own, we save ourselves from both the arguments with our kids, as well as the unnecessary sugar highs that my children tend to get.

If you do decide to choose a dining plan, I would strongly suggest the standard Disney Dining Plan or the Quick-Service Dining Plan. With those plans, you aren't having to eat a large table service meal, three times a day. The snack credits within these plans do have some great value for in between meals while spending your days in the parks.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation and feel free to stop back by with more planning questions as they come up.
