    I just love the Moms! I am trying to plan our first trip to WDW for the week after Thanksgiving 2010. My kids (2.5 and 5 at the time of travel) nor myself have ever been. I am so overwhelmed. I don't know where to start. Any suggestions?

    The good news is that you've already realized two things: 1) you need to plan far enough out to make the trip the most for your money and 2) you've asked for others' advice!

    The best news is that you've already nailed down your biggest decision: when to go.  From there, it's a matter of your budget so you can decide on how long you'll stay, which accommodations you'll choose, what tickets are best and which restaurants to pick.  Choosing which attractions to visit can wait a year.

    When I planned my first trip, I got a guide book.  Even with this great site, I'd recommend the same for you.  If you like in-depth information, I'd buy The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World.  If you want less volume with more of a Cliffs Notes approach, I'd recommend fellow panelist Doug's book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Disney.  A guide, along with the archives here at our site, can provide you with much of the information that will help you answer the questions above.  My only added source would be the website www.allears.net for its resort room pictures and restaurant menus.

    Once you know your budget, my fellow moms and I can probably help answer your questions about how long to stay (a 4-night stay, to me, is minimum), where to stay (All-Star Movies, Port Orleans, and Polynesian/Animal Kingdom would probably top my list just based on your kid's ages), and tickets (I'd recommend park hoppers in case crowds are high during the holidays) along with restaurants (1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Mickey's Backyard BBQ without knowing if you've got a boys or girls).
