Would love to stay at one of the Deluxe resorts for our 10th anniversary, budget may be an issue, which one of the deluxe resorts is cheaper & are they all on the monorail or just a few of them?

    Hi Amber:

Happy anniversary.  I'll never forget the wonder I felt as a 6 year-old staying at the Contemporary Resort and watching the monorail run right through the Resort.  I've been back to Disney World countless times since and stayed at all different types of Resorts, and while there is something special about staying on the monorail line for its convenience and wow factor, it's not a necessity.  There are eight Deluxe Resorts.  I've found the biggest difference between Deluxe and non-Deluxe Resorts to be the size of the rooms and the grand theming of the Resort.  The themeing of the Deluxe Resorts extends not just to the room, but to the lobby and to the pools.  Deluxe Resorts tend to be closer to a Park and, except for Animal Kingdom Lodge, have multiple transportation options aside from bus (like boat launch or monorail).

There are three Resorts on the monorail: The Contemporary, Polynesian Resort, and Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, all of them deluxe.  I've tended to find the best deals on Deluxe Resorts that I've seen have been at the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge
