I love the smell of the towels at Disney hotels. What brand of laundry detergent do they use?

    Hi there, Emily!

If you were to wash and dry one load of laundry every day for 52 years, you’d clean as much as the folks at Walt Disney World Laundry do in a single day.

These Cast Members launder an average of 285,000 pounds each day.

The Housekeeping Plant processes rooms linen and pool towels for the nearly 30,000 Disney World hotel rooms. It produces more clean linen than any other single laundry location in the world—nearly 120 million pounds annually. The 16-year-old facility operates seven tunnel washers (that are targeted for replacement) and an automated open-pocket cell.

In addition, between 30,000 and 32,000 garments are dry-cleaned daily.

In my conversations with Cast Members, I learned that Walt Disney World uses a special proprietary detergent that was created specifically for the Parks and Resort hotels, addressing a variety of factors, including pH levels, skin sensitivities, and environmental impact. It is not, unfortunately, available to the general public.

But it's always good, at Disney, to "stop and smell the laundry" - and all of the other delicious scents of the most magical place on Earth!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
