Hi moms, love your site! We are visiting WDW in Sept. and its my kids first time flying ages 4 and 2 1/2 any tips or suggestions to make the flight go smoothly? We have 2 flights to get to florida and I am terriifed its going to not be fun for them!

    Hi Stephanie!

My kids are 2.5 and 5 so I can imagine what 2 flights would be like with them! I have taken my kids on several flights--mostly as younger kids (you know, where you are breastfeeding without shame next to a business man or changing a yucky diaper on your lap...ah, motherhood!)

    Some of my tips are:

-let them run around as much as possible before you get on the plane!
-bring their favorite toy, book or stuffed animal
-also bring a bag of NEW stuff they have never seen before (stickers are always a big hit, little puzzles, easy sticky craft, new coloring book, etc.)
-do not underestimate the power of a movie--use your iPad, iPhone or laptop!
-walk around on the plane...I've even hung out in the back with the flight attendants before on a long flight. Once they even gave my son (about 10mo) some extra snacks and let me change his diaper on the floor!
-snacks! bring chewy fruit snacks or something that takes them awhile to eat, bring snacks you don't usually have so they will be excited to eat!
-bring brochures, books or even print-outs of Disney World, you can dream about your vacation together!
-don't be afraid to ask to change seats with someone--most people will be happy to move to make a kid quieter!

And most importantly, don't worry about it! Especially on that flight straight to Orlando---there will be TONS of kids on that flight! All on their way to the most magical place on earth! :)
