Love this site. We are trying to decide b/n Contemporary, Floridian & Polynesian. There's also construction at the CR that we are concerned about. We have a 2.5 year old who is a light sleeper. What hotel would you recommend?

Choosing a resort is a matter of personal preference. I can share my experience though to help you narrow your choices.

The Contemporary has modern decor with the excitement of the monorail zooming through the middle of the concourse. With this resort also being a hotel for business people attending conferences, it detracts a bit from the magic that would be best for a young child. I'm sure there are many families that would disagree, however, I find this resort more sterile than the other two monorail resorts.

Both the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian Resorts are excellent choices for a small child. I think you'd find both locations to offer quiet and peaceful accommodations for your light sleeper. Especially if you'll return to your resort for naps. I know we did when our son was that age.

The GF and Poly each have a small quick service location for meals on the go. Each resort offers excellent viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. At the GF, you can sit on the dock or watch from a table by the Gasparilla Grill. Looking out towards the marina, you'll be staring directly at the castle. This is also a nice place for an early morning breakfast at an outdoor table. At the Poly, you'll find cozy hammocks and lounge chairs on the beach for fireworks viewing. We also spent one magical evening in the volcano pool while watching the fireworks!

I think the GF and Poly offer surroundings that will seem magical to your child. You'll need to decide if the tropical oasis at the Polynesian or Victorian charm at the GF is best for your family. I think looking at pictures helps sort it out. See pictures at www.allearsnet.com.

At the age of 2, my son absolutely loved the Grand Floridian. However at the age of 3, he was delighted with a stay at the Polynesian. Both offer zero-entry pools and fun character meals!
