Hi there! I love the site! My family is going to WDW in Dec. 08 for the first time!! My question is this. How expensive is it ti dine in the eateries in WDW? What I really want to know is, is it really better to buy the dining packages or just buy a meal ?

Hi, wow...Great Question...Here's my perspective, if you are interested in attending dinner shows, or a character meal or two the Disney Dining Plan is the way to go.  If you are not a big eater and tend to graze through the day.  I would suggest paying as you go.  I never utilized the Dining Plan when my kids were small because they ate like birds.  It wasn't cost effective.  Every year I call and ask "what is the daily cost for this dining plan?".  I take the amount and figure out my food costs, and will it save or cost me money.  Now with 2 teenagers and a preteen the Dining Plan is definitely cost effective.  The average cost of counter service meals when we were there last Fall was $6.00 - $8.00 plus a drink.  I found bottled water was cheaper than soda.  We would purchase a bottle of water with our meals and then take the bottle with us.  We could refill it as needed.  The table service meals vary greatly in cost.  Hope you have a fabulous visit!!  Heather M.
