Hi! Love this site, in fact I spend hours on this instead of studying for my classes. Anywho, my boyfriend and I are visiting in July, first timers, and heard that there is a place you can buy a clam containing a pearl. What and where is this? Thanks!

    Hi Jessica,

I know exactly what you are talking about, but unfortunately I can't quite remember the name of this place.  I can tell you that it is a kiosk type store that is located right across from the "Pooh Corner Shop" (by parking lot "A") in the Downtown Disney shopping district and I always stop to look at the beautiful pearls and jewelery when I am there.  It is not mentioned on my map of Downtown Disney, which I am studying right now......by the way, shouldn't you be studying???

I don't know if you have ever been to Hawaii, but this is where the idea came from, and I remember doing this as a kid (it's a wonderful idea, and makes for a nice memory souvenir of your vacation!).  You are able to pick out a clam and they will open it for you to reveal which pearl you are lucky to be the owner of.  Sometimes I have seen a black one (which is a hard find and worth much more), as well as "twins", even though this is quite rare, it does happen.  So you pay the price of the clam and whatever is inside is yours to keep.  They do also have the jewelery hardware in many different styles and price ranges for you to decide on if you would like to walk away with a piece of jewelery containing your special pearl (they will set it for you right there on the spot).

I hope this helps you out a bit, and that you find the location of it okay.  One more thing...study hard and Aloha!

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
