Welcome to planDisney, Luis. With the 50th Anniversary Celebration happening, this is certainly the year to visit Walt Disney World Resort. I was recently able to visit with my wife and two children and we had a truly magical time. Make sure you take lots of pictures!
When it comes to planning a vacation, the price will vary depending on a variety of factors. The
Walt Disney World website can help you price your vacation. You can also consider using an authorized Disney vacation planner. You can even find no-fee agents who can help you plan and book your vacation in the most cost-efficient way.
In the word of Mary Poppins, "There’s the whole world at your feet." As you take your first steps to plan your vacation, let me suggest some ways that you can save those pennies:
- Consider staying at a value resort. The cheaper Disney Resorts Collection hotels allow you to save money, yet enjoy the many benefits of staying on property. My wife and I had a magical time staying at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort. I'd also recommend looking at the latest deals on offer, which sometimes involve hotel discounts.
- Bring your own snacks. The snacks at Walt Disney World are delicious! I'd certainly recommend trying some during your visit. However, my family needs LOTS of snacks during our daily adventures. Therefore, to be kind to your wallet, consider filling your backpack with energy-rich foods for each member of your family.
- Bring your own refillable water bottles. There are many bottle refill stations around the Parks, which can help you save a ton of money and keep hydrated (a must in those summer months).
- Enjoy a Park-free day. The Theme Parks are my favorite part of a Disney vacation. However, especially with children, it's good to have a day to relax and take a break from all the intense excitement. There are so many wonderful and free things to do around Walt Disney World Resort. Take an evening stroll around Disney's Boardwalk (keep an eye out for fireworks), visit the animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, take in the sights and ride Disney Skyliner, visit the amazing stores at Disney Springs, or enjoy some time at the pool.
- Skip the fine dining. I don't just like food, I LOVE it! My wife and I adore eating at the amazing restaurants on property. However, you don't have to eat at the most expensive restaurants to eat well at Disney. (And personally, I've found that taking my two young children to a nice restaurant tends to make the meal... how do I say this... less nice). Some of the quick-service restaurants are great! Some that I would recommend are Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom Park, ABC Commissary and Ronto Roasters at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Satu'li Canteen and Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and any quick-service restaurant around World Showcase in EPCOT.
I hope that's helpful, Luis. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have an enchanting vacation.
Mike
