Love the panel! Going to WDW in April, have a 3yr old and 16month, are children too young for Mickey's BBQ? Also how many charcter meals are too much for the young children? Lastly, would you suggest a hopper pass since going during a very busy time?

    Debbie:

Your children are not too young for Mickey's Backyard BBQ, but I have to warn you: it's quite a dance party for the kids and the ones, quite honestly, creating part of the confusion are the parents trying to take pictures of little Johnny dancing with Mickey!   My suggestion: hold off and don't take the kids to the dance floor until the second or third song and enjoy an extra ice cream bar from the freezer.  By then, parents will have gotten their first few shots and be off the dance floor and there'll be more room for your youngsters.  (Fellow Disney Mom Kay took her grand child in May and had a memorable time.  Visit her bio page and ask her some additional tips!)

As for the park hopper pass, I usually don't recommend it to families with young children as the transfers from one park to the other aren't worth it with strollers and all the "parental luggage" in tow.  My advice: pick a park and do it leisurely and thoroughly, taking a break in the afternoon for a 3- to 4-hour rest.

HOWEVER, if you are going the first week of April, right after Easter, the park hopper may be insurance against getting into a park that you think is too crowded.  HINT: You can upgrade your ticket once you're on property--and even after you've used the ticket.  So test the crowds first.  You might not need to spend the $50 per person on the hopper privilege.  (And that would more than pay for Mickey's Backyard BBQ.)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
