I just love this panel. I see that you have stayed at Shades of Green before. How would you compare it to others at WDW? Which resort would it most be like, value or moderate? We are staying there this summer. Any other tips while there would be great.

Thanks for stopping by our forum often!  I hope we've helped in your trip planning.

You've made a wise choice; Shades of Green is a beautiful resort and it offers incredible value for military members and other government employees.  We stayed there in Sept. 2005.  Our room overlooked the golf course - very pretty.  We were also impressed with the lobby area of the resort and our room.

As for whether it would be more comparable to value or moderate resorts, I would have to say neither; I'd go with deluxe!  Shades of Green actually used to be owned by Disney (they called it something else though) and back in the day it was deemed a deluxe, or premium resort.  I would stick with that classification because like many of Disney's deluxe resorts, the rooms at Shades of Green are equipped with 2 queen beds as well as a daybed whereas the moderate resorts feature double beds and no daybed.  The standard rooms are also some of the largest on Disney property, and believe me,  the extra space simplifies the morning routine for a large family!

    Here are my tips:
*Keep in mind that you are eligible for many of the perks extended to Disney resort guests including Extra Magic Hour, and use of the Disney transportation system.

*The Express Cafe (which is sort of hidden, ask about it) offers great on-the-go breakfast choices.

*The Polynesian is a short walk from Shades of Green and offers quick access to the monorail.

*If you are in the right place at the right time, the Wishes fireworks can be viewed from Shades of Green.  We saw them from our balcony.  I wish I could remember our room number, but I can't!  Sorry.   :)

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time!  Enjoy your stay!
