Hi Moms, I love your panel! I stayed at the Golf villas back in 93 on my 1st Disney trip. I am planning a trip next year and would have loved to stay there again but don't know what the new property name is. Can you help me out?

Hi Kerrie! Your question intrigued me to do some investigating from my old planning books.  I have been coming to Disney since its opening so I had plenty to go back to!  I really had fun seeing how much has changed and improved and what it was like over ten years ago!

I believe the villas you were talking about were the Vacation and Fairway villas located near downtown Disney and near the golf courses in that area. They were one and two bedroom and although I too remember at one point something called or at least referred to as Golf Villas nothing comes up in the old books regarding that name.  We used to stay in the Fairway Villas there and loved having the golf carts to take us to Downtown Disney to shop and eat.  Heck I even remember when the Empress Room was the fine dining spot on the Empress Lily Riverboat and the other two restaurants were Steerman's Quarters and Fisherman's Deck!

This area is now called Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa and it was opened in May of 2004 and completed in 2007 so it is still very new.  It is a DVC property but all guests can reserve rooms on a nightly basis.  This resort sits on over 65 acres and it is adjacent to the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.  The Treehouse villas have just recently been renovated and are now also available for reservations.  You can check both of these properties out at the website, www.disneyworld.com or by clicking HERE.

Hope this has helped.  It certainly brought back some great memories from my own past vacations!
