Love the panel! How is security at the WDW hotels? My kids (8 & 5) have Nintendo DSIs and I would like to bring them for the plane and airport wait. I might bring my laptop as well. Is it safe to keep them in our on-sight hotel room? Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words! It's wonderful being able to share our experiences to help families enjoy all that WDW has to offer.

I have been staying at on-site hotels for over 20 years. I've stayed in value, moderate and deluxe accommodations. My family doesn't know how to travel light so we bring our laptops, gaming systems, cellphones, etc. My son's DSi is a lifesaver for entertaining him in airports!

In your room, you will find a small safe which will hold most of your devices with the exception of a normal size laptop. Usually my laptop is left inside a bag and then "hidden" under a jacket or at the bottom of a closet. It's not high tech security, by any means. There are a few resort hotels that have pedestal safes that fit some mid-size laptops.

I've read of guests locking their laptops inside their luggage. Other travelers feel safer leaving their laptop in the safe deposit box at the Front Desk. I know many WDW guests who just leave their laptop sitting out on the desk in their room, however I would recommend practicing at least some small security measures as mentioned above.

Of course, you should practice caution and make sure your hotel door(s) are locked when leaving the room. Many of the doors need to be pulled hard to latch securely.

You might also consider purchasing a laptop lock that will allow you to secure your valuable to the desk in your room.  Safe travels!
