I love this panel! DH and I are running the Star Wars Challenge at WDW in April 2016. I know that is usually a quieter time at the parks but are they crowded on race days and should we stay at the resort and go to the parks Tuesday (need a rest day :)?

    Hi, Jessica!

I'm happy to hear you're a fan of the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It means a lot to us when guests let us know we've helped them plan magical Disney Parks vacations.

And.... welcome to The Dark Side! The Empire is happy to have you along in your training for this galactic race. Of the races being offered for this event, I'm assuming you are participating in the half marathon being held on Sunday, April 17th? If so, I suggest making Monday (or Tuesday) your park day. Not necessarily because of crowds; according to the Crowd Calendar all three of those days are estimated to be between a 4-6 out of 10 (10 being the most crowded), but because you will want to get the most out of your park day and be at your chosen theme park at opening. If you make a park day on Sunday after the race, it may be late morning by the time you've relaxed, refueled, recovered and get into the park.

However, it is important that you keep moving to ward off soreness - so for Sunday, I'd head over to Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) to check out all the new shops, restaurants and entertainment that are now being offered as part of this area's re-imagination process. Go to bed early, because you got up at 2:30am for the race, and have an amazing Monday in the theme parks. And don't forget to wear your medal!

I hope this helps in your planning, Jessica! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any additional questions you may have. I am here to help you plan an out-of-this-world runDisney-cation.
