Love the Moms Panel, read daily. Will be staying at Fort Wilderness. Trying to justify golf cart rental. How far is it from the Meadow Snack bar/ pool to the marina? If you take a boat to MK, do you leave your golf cart parked at the marina for the day?

Hi Cynthia! I hope you love the Fort Wilderness area as much as my family does. We used the cabins quite a bit in the beginning and now own our own motor coach so we spend a lot of time there.

The golf carts are pricey but they have become part of the Fort Wilderness experience.  Using a car at this resort is not really possible as there is no parking at the pool area or Pioneer Hall or the trading posts. To reach them you will need to walk or use the internal bus transportation. There are a couple of parking spots at the central trading post but it is for short term parking only.

If you are at a cabin you can be quite a distance from all of the above locations. Walking is possible as there are sidewalks but not practical if you have young children or are tired after a long day in a park. You can hop on the internal buses that run every 15-20 minutes to reach the pool or marina area so golf carts are not necessary. But if you are like my family they have become a necessity as they make getting around the resort very easy and lots of fun. You will find parking for the carts at the pools, trading posts, and also at the marina where you can hop on the Magic Kingdom or resort boat and spend the day away. When you get home your cart or chariot is waiting for a quick ride back to your cabin or RV site.

My family loves to take extra time to explore the many loops in the resort. This is especially fun during the holidays when the campers put up extensive decorations. Halloween and Christmas are the best decorations but you can easily find something up at the sties all year long.

Golf carts are not a necessity but my family definitely rents them on each trip. They budget the extra expense and cut back somewhere else just to be able to have this extra perk.
