Love the Panel! Question...We get into Orlando at 2:15pm on 1/22, renting a car and staying off site. I guess-timate that we could get to WDW by 5:00pm. MK closes this night at 8:00pm and EP at 9:00pm. What park, in any, should we go to this evening?

    Hi Kelly!

You are right about your time estimate of between 2-3 hours to pick up your luggage, rent your car, drive to your hotel, and check in.  You may be able to do it quicker than that, but it pays to be a little conservative in estimating travel times.  If you go to Epcot or the Magic Kingdom right after you check into your hotel, you will only be able to have 3 to 4 hours in a Park.  This may be enough time to ride a few rides, but it might not be enough time to get your money's worth from a day's ticket (you will have to use a whole day's ticket to get into any Park).

I would suggest that you do something that doesn't require a ticket on your first night at Walt Disney World.  Two of my favorite things to do on my first night are to go to Downtown Disney to walk around and shop or to watch Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant from the Beach at the Polynesian Resort.  You also could walk around Crescent Lake at the Boardwalk in the Epcot Resort area, eat a meal at a restaurant in one of Walt Disney Resorts, or play Miniature Golf at Winter/Summerland at Blizzard Beach or Fantasia Gardens near the Swan and Dolphin Resorts (there is a fee for the Mini-Golf).  Another hidden treasure that does not cost anything is Yee Haw Bob Jackson's show at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort.  For all of these things that I just mentioned no Park ticket is required!

I hope that you have a magical time exploring all that there is to do outside the Theme Parks at Walt Disney World!
