I love this panel! Planning our first trip for April 27th-May 1st 09 and am very excited. We are looking to get the DDDP. Was told that it was just a discount, but does it not cover the full price of the meal?

Currently, the Deluxe Dining Plan covers the cost of three full meals per night of your stay including appetizer, entree and dessert at most of the sit-down restaurants.  Two snack credits per day are included as well.  It does not cover the cost of any alcoholic beverages or the tip.

Disney has another program called the Disney Dining Experience.  Membership entitles you to a 20% discount at certain eateries around WDW.  This program is only available to annual pass holders and Florida residents though.  Perhaps whoever spoke to you about the discount had this program in mind.

The dining plan did undergo some revision at the beginning of the year so you'll want to verify before your trip what the 2009 Deluxe Dining Plan will include.  Happy dining!
