I love this panel! Husband + I + 2 yo coming 9/11-9/18 for first trip to WDW, staying at ASM. We have the DP but haven't made any reservations yet. I'm overwhelmed by all the choices! What is the best approach to deciding where to reserve + when? Merci!

    Theresa:

When our family goes to Disney, choosing the right restaurant is as important as riding everyone's favorite attraction!

Because our family usually chooses the Basic One-Park-Per-Day ticket, I like to start by planning which park we'll visit on each day BEFORE deciding on which dining reservations to reserve and adjust from there. I choose my parks by picking the larger parks (Epcot & Animal Kingdom) on the weekends when crowds tend to be thicker and avoiding the parks on the days they offer Early Magic Hours, as that tends to attract more people...so for your stay:

Sunday: Animal Kingdom or Epcot, Sanaa or Yak & Yeti
Monday: Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace or Ohana for Breakfast
Tuesday: Disney's Hollywood Studios, Hollywood & Vine
Wednesday: Magic Kingdom, Chef Mickey's or Tony's
Thursday: your pick or Disney's Hollywood Studios
Friday: Epcot or Animal Kingdom, Biergarten or Teppan Edo

From there, you can narrow down which restaurants are in that park or in the resorts near that park. (I'd recommend going to www.allears.net for this.) I like to choose one table service meal a day so I'm not spending all my time dining.  Although the best value is to use that table service for dinner each evening, reservations for dinner can be hard to come by. But breakfast can give you some of the best Character Meals. Let your counter service restaurants be your wild cards to choose on site based on what you're hungry for.

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
