Love the panel, you guys have been great. Me, DH, DS 15, DS 11 recently changed res to AKL (from POFQ). Now discounted rooms available @ WL, cost will be add'l $300. Would you change to WL or stay at AKL? Very excited for AKL, but now torn with WL - help!

    Hi Kimberly,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel… and GAH! You’re asking me to pick between two of my favourite Walt Disney World Resort Hotels: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. If I had to pick one, though, I would tell you to stick with your reservation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and put that additional money towards souvenirs!

My fellow panelist Whitney gave you some great reasons for choosing Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I totally agree with her advice. What I love most about it is the warm and welcoming atmosphere that surrounds you the moment you walk through its doors - it really feels like an entirely different world.

My family likes to go “home” to the Lodge for a bit of a respite from the heat of the parks in the middle of the day.  Because of this, we usually splurge on a Savanna View room. I sit our balcony with a cold drink and a book to watch the animals roam and just enjoy my personal moment of Zen! When we’ve stayed in a Standard View room, I would just take my book and head to one of the rocking chairs at the Arusha Rock Fire Pit.

I also think that your boys will love the fun and unique activities at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge such as: flamingo feedings at the Flamingo Pond, wildlife games in the Sunset Lounge, African games and crafts at the Uzima Pool Deck and animal viewing with night vision goggles. For more information, please consult the Resort Guide that you’ll receive at check-in.

I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming vacation! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
