Love this panel!! DVC question. We are staying at OKW for 10 days in June. My nephew, who is in school in Florida, is planning to visit for 2 nights. We have the dining plan. Will I have to buy dining plan for him for full 10 days because he's in our room?

    Hi Riki,

Thanks for your kind words about the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  I am so glad that you are finding it to be helpful!  We on the Disney Parks Moms Panel love helping guests to plan magical vacations.

With Disney Vacation Club, if you purchase a Dining Plan for your stay at Walt Disney World, every guest in the room must have the Dining Plan for the length of the reservation.  So yes, if your nephew is on the reservation, and you are purchasing the Disney Dining Plan, he would need to have it for the entire 10 days.

I spoke with a cast member at Disney Vacation Club Member Services today who suggested that you could break your reservation up into two reservations - one for eight nights and one for two nights.  This way, you could have your nephew only on the two-night reservation and purchase only the two-night Dining Plan for him.  Another thought I had was if you are planning to do some signature dining at locations such as California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort or Monsieur Paul at Epcot, these will each require two table service credits.  If you had the extra credits from your nephew's Dining Plan for the days he is not there, you could do some more of these signature dining experiences.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Riki.  Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
