Love the panel, daily reader! Trip Dec 7 through 14. Staying at AKL. How much should we tip housekeeping? Thanks!

    Hi Sherrie!

How much to tip your housekeeper will be up to you, but we usually leave one to two dollars per person in the room per day. Leave the gratuity in an envelope marked "Housekeeping" in an obvious place - like on the sink or on a pillow. I recommend leaving a small tip each day rather than one large sum at the end of your stay because your room may be serviced by more than one housekeeper during your vacation. Leaving a tip each day will ensure that the housekeeper responsible for cleaning your room gets the tip intended for him or her.

While the one to two dollars per person per day guideline is a good rule of thumb, we always leave a little extra if we make any special requests like extra towels or pillows.

I hope this helps! Have a wonderful vacation!
