Hi! Would love your opinion on which is better Cape May Cafe or Captain's Grill. Have resv. for CMC because it is buffet with lots of diff. seafood for DH & land-lover food for DD8 & DD12. But I am wondering if CG has better quality food/steak/cra

Hi, David! Great question, and a little insight might help put your mind at ease about your decision. One of the neat things about serving on the Moms Panel is the opportunity to meet several Cast Members, and I always feel compelled to ask them about what they do for Disney. Recently, I met someone who works in food/beverages for WDW, and he explained to me that most resort restaurants share kitchens. Therefore, if you see clam chowder on one restaurant's menu and there is clam chowder on another's menu (which are in the same building), chances are they are made from the same kitchen by the same staff. My guess is that several of the same items served on the dinner buffet at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club are also available on the a la carte dinner menu at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club.

Our family recently dined at both restaurants, and I liked them both.  Both have great quality food and are similarly priced, but I would have to give the atmosphere advantage to Cape May Cafe. Of course, there is more variety on the Cape May buffet but more control of how you like food prepared at Captain's Grille.

We were staying at the Yacht Club and needed to have a quick dinner before the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage, and they were able to seat us quickly without a reservation at the Captain's Grille. Yet, the Clam Bake Dinner Buffet at Cape May Cafe is an event itself which required an Advanced Dining Reservation.

My recommendation is Cape May Cafe if you're not staying at the Yacht or Beach Club and want an excuse to see the resort and spend time in the resort area. After dinner, you may want to walk over to the Boardwalk and check out the entertainment there. Otherwise, if you're staying on the premises, Captain's Grille is a great, spur-of-the-moment option.

I hope this helps you plan, and let us know if we can help you in any other way. Have a wonderful day, a magical vacation and remember to never eat a closed clam! :)
