Welcome back, Laura!
I'm eagerly awaiting New Year's Eve information to be released as well! My son will be participating in Disney's Soccer Showcase during this time, which has me planning and preparing to ring in 2018 in the middle of the magic right along with you.
Historically speaking, Hollywood Studios is generally the least crowded between the theme parks on this special day - making your experience a little more comfortable, though you can still expect to see large crowds. For 2017 Hollywood Studios will be offering two nighttime events; Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM, and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular to be shown at midnight. It's a very unique experience when the theme parks are able to pull off two different fireworks shows in the same area within a few hours of each other! As far as an additional "tag," or "overlay" being added to commemorate the new year, that announcement has not yet been made. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for more information on New Year's Eve fun around Walt Disney World® Resort.
In addition to the two main events,
Sunset Seasons Greetings, Hollywood Studios newest holiday offering, will be in its closing night on the 31st - you'll be amongst the last to see this festive new event before it goes dark.
I hope this helps, Laura! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any additional questions you may have. And don't forget to bring your best smile! At Disney's Hollywood Studios, you're part of the show!
ChEARS!
