I love the idea of tent camping @ Fort Wilderness. But is it really feasible in August? Won't it be unbearably hot and humid, both daytime and at night? No air-conditioning in a tent!

    Hi Monica!

I love the Fort Wilderness Resort!  It has a rustic charm and it is unlike any campground that I have ever been too.  Tent camping can be a blast, but there are a few factors that you might want to consider when you are making your decision to tent camp at Fort Wilderness in August.  The first is the heat.  August temperatures can average between 80 and 100 degrees in Orlando and it doesn't cool down very much at night (average 70's to low 80's).  Also it tends to be very humid in Orlando in August so being in a tent will not offer you any relief from these conditions.  Also there typically is an afternoon thunderstorm in August so if you are in a tent, your things may end up getting wet at least once a day (most tents that I have been in have a difficult time staying dry in a hard rainstorm).  This may be the biggest factor that may influence your decision.  There may be some other options for your to stay in Fort Wilderness in August.  There are Cabins at Fort Wilderness which have Air Conditioning and you can rent an RV that has air conditioning as well.

I hope that your next Walt Disney World vacation is truly magical in every way!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
