Love you guys! As an African-American mom, I am so excited that Disney is introducing the first African-American princess this Xmas. We postponed our trip until next year just for her. Do you ladies (or gentleman) have any info on her attractions etc? Thx!

I can’t wait for Princess Tiana to arrive the kingdom!

It’s been over 10 years since Disney released a film introducing a new princess and well,  I’m just a princess-wanna-be myself. More importantly, Tiana’s cocoa-colored skin brings a multicultural diversity to Disney’s fairy tale heroines that has been sadly lacking.

The hand-drawn, animated film The Princess and the Frog is set to be released in December. As Disney’s first African-American princess, she’s a welcome addition to the royal family which includes Jasmine, Mulan, Cinderella, Belle and other bejeweled ladies.

While I haven’t seen any official news yet, I imagine that Princess Tiana will have Meet and Greet opportunities at Walt Disney World. Your trip in 2010 should give your family a chance to meet her!

A Princess Tiana doll was recently unveiled wearing a blue ball gown. Set to go on sale this Fall, other merchandise will include costumes, backpacks and books.

Best of all, Tiana knows how to rock a tiara!
