I love celebrating the end of Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend with lunch and a treat from Beaches & Cream. Of course, the Kitchen Sink is iconic (and delicious!), but what would you recommend for dessert if I don't want one to share?

Hiya, Jana! Thanks so much for making a return trip to planDisney - so great to see you again! You've got a friend in me, and I'm happy to share some sweet tips for making the most of your post-race time at Walt Disney World Resort in 2027. Lace up those shoes, and let's get right to it!

How exciting that you'll be taking on Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January! I love seeing all of the runners celebrating their achievements with their medals, and a well-deserved Disney meal is always a great post-race plan. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is one of our family's favorite restaurants on property. This retro-themed spot, located at Disney's Beach Club Resort, offers a great selection of burgers and sandwiches (the grilled cheese and tomato soup is not to be missed), but it's most popular for its to-die-for desserts!

I think everyone should experience the Kitchen Sink sundae once - this massive ice cream experience features five different flavors of ice cream, smothered in every topping available. Generally, our family prefers to order separate desserts so everyone can get exactly what they want!

My go-to sundae is always the No-Way Jose, which is a delicious combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream topped with hot fudge, peanut butter, and peanut butter and chocolate chips. The sundaes featured in the "Sundaes on the Beach" section of the menu are pretty large, so if I'm not quite up to the full portion, I'll order a 2- or 3-scoop sundae and request the same recipe as the larger version!

The specialty shakes are also a great choice - they come in a souvenir cup that you can take home, and are topped with a brownie or cupcake, so they're ideal for sharing. And for a more grown-up treat, the Bailey's Sundae is really delicious, featuring coffee ice cream, brownies, and hot fudge with the addition of some Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur.

Jana, I personally think you can't go wrong with dessert anytime, but hopefully these suggestions are helpful for your planning purposes! Good luck with your training for Marathon Weekend, and please don't hesitate to come back and see our planDisney crew again anytime if we can help with other questions about all things ice cream, or any other ways to add a little extra pixie dust (and sugar) to your travels.

    Bon Appétit!
