How is the love bug situation this year, arriving May 8-14 at CBR. My daughter is afraid of bugs. Does the Disney parks/resorts do anything about them if there is an infestation or if they become a nuisance? This panel ROCKS!

    Hi Myra,

I am sorry to tell you that I heard from some of the friends I have in Florida that Love Bug season has started.  They emerge in the spring and fall (usually May and September), although this can vary by a few weeks earlier or later.  The total "season" lasts 3-5 weeks. They are most active in the mid-morning and just before nightfall -- during the day they tend to find shelter in the shade. Although these Love Bugs are a nuisance, that is all that they are!  They do not bite, sting, make buzzing noises or spread diseases.  I have been there when they have not been so bad and then I have been at other times when they are everywhere (hard not to hear crunching under your feet as they were all over the ground too), but I don't think it's worth cancelling your trip, maybe just google it and show your daughter what they look like and what to expect before your trip so she knows that they are harmless and not to worry if they land on her (they definitely do not bite or sting!).  There is nothing that Disney can do to keep them away, you just have to basically put up with them anywhere in Florida when they are in season.

    Best wishes,
    Brigitta
