I would love to bring our daughter to Disney for her first trip at the end of July but everyone is telling me it is a bad idea because: 1) It will be too hot and 2) It will be too crowded. Any advice?

    Hi Melanie,

First trips are special at the Walt Disney World Resort. My daughters' first trip was when they were two and four and we went in November with my parents who had their first trip too.

July will be hot and it will be crowded. However, if this is the best option for your family, you can totally manage it.

First, accept that you will not get to see everything even if you went during the slow periods. The Walt Disney World Resort is huge. If you daughter knows about the trip, ask her to help plan.

If you are a morning family, get to the parks early. It will be cooler and less crowded. This will allow you to experience shorter lines. Make your FastPass+ reservations for the afternoon when the lines are longer and the temperature hotter. Take advantage of attractions that have large indoor seating in air conditioning like Ellen's Energy Adventure or Mickey's Philharmagic. These run constantly and do not need a FastPass+.

If you are going for more than a few days, make day three or four a day for the pool or for a water park. Take a break from the crowd and cool off.

Always make an Advance Dining Reservation for dinner. This guarantees you a seat in the air conditioning and you can then decide if the evening is doable or not.

Finally, drink plenty of water and enjoy!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
