Greetings Nina, and welcome to
planDisney!
It sounds like you recently enjoyed some sweet slumber at
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. My family sleeps so well on our Disney vacations that we also purchased a mattress identical to what is used in some of the
resort hotels. Now we can rest like Sleeping Beauty at home!
The
Guest rooms at Disney's Californian Hotel & Spa were refurbished just a few years ago, and one of my favorite features is the open bed frame design, perfect for storing luggage underneath. While the mattresses are available for purchase to the general public, the quarter-sawn oak bed frames, a hallmark of Craftsman design, are specially made for
Disneyland Resort. To recreate this look at home, I suggest looking for a similarly designed frame that can also be raised off the floor to mimic the height of the beds you enjoyed in your resort room.
Browse images online of the frames, and perhaps you can match them with Craftsman-style beds found at your local furniture store. Attach reading lamps on each side of the headboard to complete the look. Bonus points if you or an artistically inclined friend can paint an orange grove mural above the headboard with Chip 'n Dale playing mischievously around the corners!
I hope this is helpful, Nina. I love the idea of creating a space in your home that brings in the magic and relaxation of your Disneyland Resort stay. Best wishes for making your design dreams a reality, and we hope to see you back in the Happiest Place on Earth soon. Thanks for stopping by!
