Hey Terrance and welcome to planDisney!
I'm glad to be talking to some home folks. Louisiana natives are serious about 3 things: Football, family and food! If your family is anything like mine then it's hard for y'all to find food that lives up to our palate. But let's dig a little deeper like our girl Princess Tiana and see what we can come up with.
The safest stop for a son of Louisiana for something familiar is going to be
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' in
Disney Springs. The food is mouthwateringly good and the portions are massive. The thigh-high chicken biscuits and the okra fries are just an appetizer and a side but I get so full I could burst! Oh, and don't forget the braised short ribs, and the shine cake, and the ... You know what just go down there and let the menu speak to you. You really can't go wrong.
For something a bit out of the ordinary, I'd direct you to
Yak and Yeti Restaurant in
Disney's Animal Kingdom. I recently had dinner there and it did not disappoint. This is another spot with huge portions and an Asian-inspired menu that will make you fight a yeti! The ahi tuna nachos were a personal favorite along with the chicken tikka masala and a slice of mango pie for dessert.
My final recommendation is going to be more of a snack option. After a long morning frolicking through Magic Kingdom Park you're sure to be starving. My Walt Disney World Resort vacation did not happen until I've had a sweet-and-spicy chicken-waffle sandwich from
Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. Chicken and waffle sandwich. Need I say more? The location is also right next to a pretty sweet picture spot for Cinderella Castle.
Terrance, eating when out of town can sometimes be rough for a Louisianian. But at the Walt Disney World Resort, you're sure to leave with a belly full of magic and good eats!
Let the good times roll!
