I have a lot of students in my class (special Ed) who have tactile problems. Can you get shower gel in your room insted of a bar of soap. Thanks, Have a Magical Day!!

    Hi Jessica,

It took me a few days to do some research on your question because there are so many resort options at the Walt Disney World Resort.  There are approximately 30 resorts on property of which approximately 24 of them are owned and operated by the Walt Disney World Company - and of course there are different categories of rooms within each resort.

You know I always want to do my best to help you and your awesome kids so I did some checking at some of the different categories of the resorts - deluxe, moderate and value.  It seems that most of the deluxe resorts and Disney Vacation Club properties include shower gel as part of the amenities included in your room. The other resorts offer bar soap and the shampoo/conditioner combo.

I would suggest that guests not staying in a deluxe or DVC property, request shower gel at the time they are making their reservations.  You could also follow up by calling the resort directly after making your reservation.  Once you arrive at your property, you can also speak with a Cast Member during check in or can contact Mousekeeping once you reach your room and explain the situation.

I know that in addition to tactile issues, some kids also have sensory issues to different smells or scents so there are no guarantees that even if there is shower gel in the room that it would be a fragrance they liked.  Also, some kids will likely need tear-free shower gel and shampoo and I didn't find these to be options even when shower gel was available. If it were something that either of my kids needed due to tactile or sensory issues, I'd probably bring my own along just to be safe.

If you like me to check any specific resorts, let me know - I'm always will to help.  Remind your kids to always wish a upon a star.  Wishing you a pixie dust filled week :-)
