Hi, Lori! I have 2 and 1 year old boys, and everyone keeps telling me they're too young to take to Disney World, but I can't wait! What is your advice for the perfect time to take them?

    Hi Kristin!

I totally understand! I was planning trips to Disney World for my boys before they were even born!

To be honest, I think the answer to this is different for everyone.  It depends on what your boys' personalities are like. Do they enjoy lots of activity? Are they afraid of crowds and noises? Do they become irritable if their routine is disrupted? Will they nap in strollers?  All of these questions should weigh in to your decision.

My boys went to Disney when they were each two years old for the first time and loved it!  I think the most important thing for you to do is to have realistic expectations.  Disney with infants and toddlers should be a low-key, relaxed event.  Let them guide you.  Don't expect to see and do everything.  I think at that age, it should be about soaking up the all of the magic that is Disney.  This is a time to slow down, and really stop and smell the roses!  There is so much to do and see without having to run raggedly across the parks. There will be plenty of time when they get older to "do"  and ride everything.

I would choose a time (if possible) when the temperatures are mild and the crowds are not high.  January, February, May and early November are some of my favorite times to travel there.

I honestly have tears in my eyes as I picture you on Main Street, U.S.A. with your precious boys.  I think only a parent can know whether a child will enjoy the trip, but I honestly think that for most, Disney is magical for every age!

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any other questions, and have a magical New Year!
