Hello Lori! I am traveling to Florida to run the Tower of Terror 10 Miler in just a few weeks. Are there any recommendations on what exactly to eat and when to eat before and after the 10 miler? Thanks for the help!

    Hi Nicole!

I am really looking forward to this race!  I think it's going to be a great course and fun party!

My biggest recommendation about pre-race food is that you do a practice meal/run a week or so before the race.  I like to stick with bland pastas, breads, and protein bars on race day.  I also always eat a plain bagel with peanut butter an hour or two before the start.  This is just what I have found to work for me.  An Italian restaurant would be good, (just don't get a heavy sauce), or even visiting your resort gift shop to pick up some breads and cereals would work too.

I also try to avoid my normal leafy salads and fiber-rich foods for at least two days before a long race.  There is nothing worse than stomach cramps when you are running at the most magical place on earth!!

After the race, there will be counter-service restaurants and food carts open at the party for you to eat whatever you want!  You may want to rest a bit and take on a few rides first, but then you can celebrate your race with some delicious calories!

Please let me know if you have any other questions leading up to the race!
