Hi Lori, I just started running last March. I have been training at an 11 minute mile pace. If I am placed in a slower coral, will I have a greater chance of being swept? This is keeping me up nights! Thank You!

    Hi William!

You can sleep soundly!  An 11-minute mile is great!  No matter what corral you are placed in, you will be fine.  The sweepers won't begin pacing along at a 16/minute mile pace until the very last person crosses that starting line.  Even if you are in the last corral, you will be passing people left and right very soon.  The last few corrals at runDisney races are generally comprised of walkers.

If you get your corral assignment, and think you should move up, you can take your proof of time (from another race that was 10K or longer) to the Runner Relations booth at the expo.  They will look at your proof of time and move you to the appropriate corral.

But, even if you don't, you will be FINE!  I actually started in the very last corral at last year's half marathon during marathon weekend.  I usually train at a 12 minute mile pace, and was fine.  I actually enjoyed the more laid-back atmosphere of that corral.  Generally, I start in B or C and I try to keep up with everyone instead of just running my race.

I hope this helps you rest at night!  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
