Hello Nate!
I'm so glad you've reached out to me on the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
One of the absolute BEST things about any runDisney event is when I get to meet inspirational people, just like you, who are participating after overcoming daunting obstacles. I have met cancer survivors, war veterans with prosthetic legs, grief-stricken parents running in honor of their child, athletes in their 80's who know the value of staying active, runners celebrating huge weight loss and so many more that I can't even fit it all in here!
I
f you haven't already, please check out this story about Kimberly. She is one of many, many athletes that continue to inspire other runDisney runners. I am sure you are very nervous about signing up for a race after not being able to walk for a period of time. But, I can assure you that Walt Disney World is the perfect spot for your triumph. They say that "every mile is magic" and it's true. You will find other runners to be extremely supportive and encouraging. You may even make a friend (or several) along the course. These races are not meant to be intimidating to new runners, instead the whole experience will be like a fairytale ... with a little more sweat!
I would be more than happy to help you plan for your race, so please let me know when you choose your
runDisney event and if you have any other questions at all!
