Hi Lori, I just started running again. I have committed along with a friend to run the princess 1/2 marathon in 2014. However I have 4 kids ages 7-15 and they will be in school. Are there any other moms that race and not bring their kids to Disney?

    Hi Kathie!

Good for you!  Running is a great way to stay in shape and take care of yourself so you can, in turn, take care of everyone else!

Oh yes!  There are LOTS of moms that make the Princess Half weekend a "girls trip"!  Myself included!  I felt guilty about that for about five minutes!  My boys are totally fine with my trips.  They actually enjoy spending some quality time with dad while I'm away.  Disney World is actually a whole different place when you are there with your buddies and just adults.  I always have a great time!

And FYI, my husband and I like to do race weekends together as a couple too.  We ship the boys to the grandparents.   Our favorite race weekend for that is the Wine and Dine half marathon.  We are planning to make the 2013 Marathon weekend our next "Disney Date Trip".  You discover even  more things at Disney when you are there with your spouse.  It is actually very romantic!!

Plan your trip and give yourself five minutes to feel guilty, and then start training and planning for a great (much deserved) trip with your friend!

Let me know if I can help you plan!
