Hi Lori, I am planning on running my first half marathon in Jan. at Disney World & was wondering if it would be a good idea to plan on visiting the parks that day after the race (would one be too tired or the parks too crowded)? Thanks.

HI Valerie!  Congratulations on deciding to do your first half marathon!  I am guessing it will be the first of many!

I think the answer to your question really depends on how well-trained you are for the race.  If you follow a training program and have already done a 12 or 14 mile training run, then you really shouldn't be that sore the day after the race.  Also, if you are a little stiff and sore, the walking around is the best thing you can do to loosen yourself back up.

The park crowds are never really too bad during marathon weekend, so that should not be an issue.  Definitely wear your medal proudly around your neck and have a great time celebrating your victory!  I almost always go park exploring after my races, and usually celebrate by eating lots of good food too!

Please let me know if I can help you prepare for your first half marathon in any other way!!
