Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Julia! I can tell your son has a Disney streak in him! Getting to the parks as an adolescent was always a huge goal. Had they had these opportunities when I was a kid, I know I’d be even more steeped in Disney culture.
While there are no summer camps or weekend programs for solo kids, I can point you towards some opportunities that you can look into. The Disney Youth Programs are geared to groups or 10 or more students focusing on
Performing Arts, Education (
Marine, Student Life, Leadership, Physics, Chemistry, etc) and the
Kingdom Keepers. Perhaps you have a scout troop, science club or arts club that would want to go! I went with my high school Physics class and it’s still a trip I remember. Try riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with a cup of water... think you can keep it full with physics guiding you? You can also book a meal to
Dine With An Imagineer, which would be a fabulous one on one opportunity for your son to learn and ask questions of a private mentor! Lastly, he can apply for the Disney Dreamers Academy one day; the inspirational stories from kids have been extremely moving; those kids have serious ambition!
If I can help you look for more programs or perhaps guide you in starting one, please let me know. You’ve got a friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
