Hi, we are looking at visiting in early September. Our son is diagnosed with ASD and we are looking at applying for the DAS. Please can you advise whether we also need to look at the Genie+ pass or whether the DAS, is essentially the same?

Hello and welcome to planDisney, Claire!

It is exciting to know that you are planning to visit the Disneyland Resort this year!

I understand that you are interested in the Disability Access Service (DAS) for your trip. On the first day of your visit to the Theme Parks, head to a Guest Relations location, such as City Hall at Disneyland Park, to register for DAS with a Cast Member. If your son is eligible, the service will be valid for him (and up to five other Guests) for the length of your ticket.

You will use the Disneyland Mobile App to request return times for DAS-eligible attractions you would like to experience. Any member of a DAS party can obtain a return time for the whole party, but the registered Guest using DAS must be present when the DAS return time is redeemed.

Regarding Disney Genie+, it is not a requirement to purchase the service if you have DAS. However, you may be able to experience more attractions by using both services. Additionally, there is another benefit that comes with the Disney Genie+ service, unlimited digital downloads of your Disney PhotoPass photos from your day! You can purchase Disney Genie+ on the day of your visit through the Disneyland App, after entering the park.

As you are considering Disney Genie+, I recommend thinking about what your priorities and goals are for your trip. Purchasing Disney Genie+ may be the best option if you want to experience as many attractions as possible and want to download your Disney PhotoPass photos. Perhaps only one member of your group tries the service on one of the days you are visiting the parks.

Tip: Don't mind splitting up to experience attractions? There are select attractions that feature a Single Rider line at both parks. My favorite in this category is Radiator Springs Racer at Disney California Adventure Park.

Claire, I hope this helps you in making an informed decision. I wish you and your family the happiest visit to The Happiest Place on Earth!

    Your Pal,
