Hiya, Danielle, and welcome to planDisney!
A stay at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa during the holiday season sounds practically perfect! The sights, sounds, and scents of the grand lobby are magical year-round, but the
addition of the life-sized gingerbread house truly transforms it into a can't-miss winter wonderland.
As you're aware, the Grand Floridian is currently undergoing a bit of a refurbishment that is nearing completion. I reached out to a friendly Cast Member for an estimated timeline, and while he was unable to confirm a specific date, he did helpfully share that it is anticipated to be completed this year. While I'm sure you were hoping for more concrete information, since you will be arriving in December, I hope you are encouraged by the update we received! As your vacation approaches and for the most up-to-date information on Walt Disney World Resort (including Disney Resort hotels), be sure to keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog.
I recently stopped by
Enchanted Rose during a girls' weekend for appetizers and mocktails and only noticed scaffolding and construction walls on the exterior of the Grand Floridian near the lobby upon arrival. Additionally, my dear friend
Ashley recently enjoyed a luxurious stay at your magical home away from home and reported that while the construction walls were a bit of an aesthetic eyesore in a few places, they had no real impact on their visit. Regardless of the completion status upon your arrival, I think you'll feel that the updates afforded by this refurbishment, such as Mary Poppins theming in Guest rooms, will definitely be worth the saw (and pixie) dust!
I hope this was helpful, Danielle! If you have any additional questions as you plan, feel free to
stop back by. I'm always happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
