Looking to try a new location for a birthday dinner. We won't be in a park that day so it would need to be in a resort or Downtown Disney. Thought about Spirit of Aloha but it is so expensive! Is it truly worth the price? Any other suggestions? Thank you?

Hello Lisa! Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  Birthdays are so fun to celebrate at Walt Disney World, we have spent many there!

Have you thought about having the birthday dinner at 'Ohana?  'Ohana is located on the upper level of Disney's Polynesian Resort and is my family's favorite dinner at Walt Disney World.  Dinner consists of yummy bread and salad, pork dumplings and chicken wings, steak chicken pork and shrimp all cooked on a wood fire grill in the middle of the restaurant, side items like broccoli and noodles and the meal ends with the best bread pudding and ice cream I have ever tasted.  We love the food here so much, we typically dine here two times each vacation.  There is also dining room entertainment like coconut races, the limbo and hula dancing.  If you time your dining reservations correctly and request a window seat, you will have an incredible view of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.  The restaurant dims the lights and pipes in the music from the show.  I cannot think of a better way to end a birthday dinner.  To be able to see the fireworks while you dine, I suggest making the reservation for one hour prior to the fireworks starting. When you are finishing up your meal with dessert the firework show will begin.

I have experienced Spirit of Aloha before and while it is a good show but it is expensive.  I honestly feel like you get a much better value for your money at 'Ohana.  I think the overall experience is just as good at 'Ohana and the food is better.

Have a magical vacation, Lisa!  If I can help you with any other questions you may have, please feel free to ask.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
