Daniel Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Looking to travel from the UK to WDW in 2021. 6 adults. 3 couples. All want to stay on property. 2 have food intolerances / tiny appetites so would not benefit from dining plan. 4 would use dining plan. What would be the best way to book? Thanks!

    Hi, there!

Daniel, I'm so pleased to hear you're planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. I think the planning process is half the fun!

There are lots of great reasons to stay at a Disney Resort hotel, but one of my favorites is the availability of a dining plan. I love the Disney Dining Plans because they add lots of convenience and flexibility to my family's Walt Disney World Resort vacations. When used wisely, the Disney Dining Plans carry a ton of value!

Not knowing the specific dynamics of the couples who will be traveling with you, it's a bit of a challenge to answer your question. If a Disney Dining Plan is added to a Disney Resort hotel package, all Guests listed on that reservation will be required to have the specific dining plan that was selected. Guests sharing a room cannot choose to opt into a dining plan while other Guests in the same room choose to opt-out. It's an all-or-none deal. If the two people in your travel party who have food intolerances and small appetites are a couple and they plan on staying in the same room together (without anyone else), they can simply book their Disney Resort hotel package without the addition of a dining plan. Then, the others in your travel party who wish to add a dining plan to their vacation packages may do so. When you're all dining together as a party of six, those with a dining plan will just pay with meal entitlements while the two without will pay out-of-pocket. But, if the two Guests with food intolerances and small appetites in your travel party will be lodging with Guests who want a dining plan, someone is going to have to concede. That said, I truly believe a Disney Dining Plan can benefit ALL Guests! The Walt Disney World Resort has a remarkable commitment to accommodating Guests with food allergies. As for the concern about small appetites, unfinished meals may always be taken to-go!

As a party of six, you'll likely be reserving at least two Disney Resort hotel rooms. Once the hotel reservations have been made, be sure everyone is linked together through Family & Friends on My Disney Experience. This will allow you to make shared plans including dining reservations and FastPass+ selections!

I hope this was helpful, Daniel. Please visit us again soon with any new questions you may have about your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
