We are looking to travel next November with a family of 5 (2 adults and children 10,8 and 6). Our 6 year old uses a wheelchair to get around. Where would you recommend staying with our a party of our size and a traveler with a physical disability?

    Hi Rebecca,

My mother is in a wheelchair, and we have found that the Polynesian Resort (accommodates parties of five, too) was a nice match to fit her needs.  Since it has monorail access to the Magic Kingdom, it is incredibly easy to use. To get to Epcot, we just went over to the Ticket and Transportation Center (which is located next door to the Polynesian Resort) and took the monorail directly there. When we visited the other two parks, we did take the bus; and rest assured, the cast members are so helpful with safely bringing wheelchairs onto the buses.  My father still talks about how well we were treated.

By the way, they also have a wheelchair that allows guests to go into the pool!

If you'd like to see more about this resort and what the rooms look like, you can visit www.tikimanpages.com; if you search for "mobility," you can see how the accommodations look like in the rooms.

I should point out that this is a deluxe resort, so the room rates are more costly.  If you'd like some other options, please let us know.  Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel.
