I am looking for a tour for our family that involves animation or artist/art creation. One of our children is leaning toward becoming an artist. I would love for him to see opportunities at Disney for consideration for his future.

    Hi Trudi!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  Unfortunately, there is no backstage tour at Walt Disney World that really covers animation.  However, you can learn about animation techniques at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park.  You will want to head to The Magic of Disney Animation attraction, which was the heart of Disney animation at the Studios when the Studios actually produced feature animation (Disney stopped making feature animation in Orlando in 2003 after Brother Bear).

There you can watch "Drawn to Animation" a 10 minute film that provides information on how animation gets done.  After watching the film, you can head to the Animation Academy, where guests have the opportunity to draw a Disney character.  During each Animation Academy, a Disney Cast Member guides guests in creating a Disney character.  Each Animation Academy class lasts about 20 minutes and you can go to as many as you would like.

I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but I hope it helps!  Enjoy planning a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and write back if you have any more questions!
