I am looking into taking my daughter to Tri-Circle D Ranch. She loves horses and takes lessons at home but is too young for a ride at Disney (she's 7, almost 8). Is it still worth visiting the ranch? Would we drive to and park at the Wilderness Lodge?

    Hi Tiffany,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. We just took our daughter for a special horseback riding excursion at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch for her birthday, and she absolutely loved it!

Tri-Circle-D Ranch is a wonderful hidden gem at Walt Disney World. The horses featured in so many Disney movies are wonderfully realized characters, and I love that they are honored at Walt Disney World in places like Tri-Circle-D Ranch and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. My favorite Disney horse is Maximus from Tangled, and it's so much fun to find him in the parks.

My family had a fantastic time walking through the stables, where you can see working Disney horses, including the Main Street, U.S.A. horses and Cinderella’s Ponies. Don’t miss the gorgeous Dragon Calliope, which is a horse-drawn musical instrument that was used in the early days at Disneyland Park. We noticed signs for stable tours, which looked really interesting; if you’d like to learn more about tours and times, please contact (407) WDW-PLAY. Fort Wilderness Campground also offers horse-drawn carriage and wagon rides, which might something fun and different to enjoy.

Tiffany, we drove to Tri-Circle-D Ranch and then took a bus to the area where the stables were. You could also take a boat from Magic Kingdom Park, or park at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and use internal transportation. If you visit Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, I recommend a meal at Whispering Canyon Café, where you can enjoy bottomless milkshakes and a unique and entertaining dining experience.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
