Hi Chasity,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for an excellent question about the most wonderful time of the year!
One of my favourite parts of the Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort is the fact that every single one of the Resort Hotels is beautifully decorated, in a way that is consistent with their overall theme. Although
Disney’s Port Orleans - French Quarter may not have as many “over-the-top” decorations as some of the Deluxe Resort Hotels and their gigantic Christmas trees, we absolutely loved the theming when we stayed there during the month of December, a few years ago. I still remember the lush (and gigantic!) poinsettias at the Resort’s entrance, and how cute the little Jazz-themed wreaths were.
One of the reasons why I usually recommend Disney’s Port Orleans - French Quarter to my friends and family who are looking to stay in a Moderate Resort Hotel is its small size. After a day of walking through the Theme Parks, it’s nice not to have a hike back to your room! The other benefit of a smaller Resort is the fact that, no matter which building you’re assigned, the pool and food court,
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, is never more than a 5 minute walk away. The most conveniently located buildings, however, are probably buildings 4 and 5. Because rooms at this Resort Hotel don't have a balcony, I honestly didn’t find that there was much of a difference between a garden view or a river view room. I would go with whichever one is cheapest!
I hope my answer helps you plan your family's upcoming vacation. Please don't hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
