Hi Tracyann! Welcome to planDisney. I've been fortunate enough to stay at
Disney Deluxe Resorts and the
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and I’d love to share my experiences with you.
All options offer an unparalleled locale and access to the magic with some key differences outside the Disney Deluxe Resorts. First, you won't find the same Disney theming and magical touches at the Swan and Dolphin. For example, our room at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa had subtle nods to Mary Poppins in the decor. The onsite bakery at Disney's Rivera Resort,
Le Petit Café, provided perfect treats with that Disney 'je ne sais quoi'. The Swan and Dolphin offers a more grown-up atmosphere, which may have been exacerbated by a large corporate conference during our stay.
Guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Hotel may not add a Disney Dining Plan—you must stay at a Disney Resort hotel to purchase a Dining Plan. If you like Disney’s BoardWalk area (and who wouldn't?!), you might consider staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn or Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. In my opinion, the
sand-bottomed pool at the Yacht Club is perfect for kids. All of these Resorts are within walking distance of EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference. Both Swan and Dolphin and the Disney Deluxe Resorts offer Early Entry perks and
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours for Deluxe hotel Guests when available. If it's that special Disney magic you're after, you simply can't beat a Disney Deluxe Resort.
Again, this is based on my personal experience, and you'll need to weigh whether the cost differential is worth it for you, Tracyann. No matter the Resort, I know you'll experience many magical moments in the Parks and beyond. If you have any further questions, I will be right
here.
Magic always,
Louise
