Looking into a stay-cation to Animal Kingdom Lodge but didn't realize there were 3 different spots to choose from (Lodge, Jambo, Kidani). Are these 3 different properties or mixed together? Whats the differences? Most family friendly (have a 1 and 3yo)

    Jambo Jacklyn,

I can’t think of a better place to have a “staycation” than at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, my favourite Walt Disney World Resort hotel!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the name that is given to the non-Disney Vacation Club Studios/Villas section of Jambo House. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House are also located in, you guessed it, Jambo House, whereas Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village are located in a separate building that is about a 10 minute walk from Jambo House.

While I tend to prefer staying at Kidani Village whenever my family travels to Walt Disney World Resort, I think that for a staycation, I would give a slight edge to Jambo House. There are more dining options there, including The Mara, a quick-service location, as well as an outdoor playground for your kiddos. Although Kidani Village’s Samawati Springs Pool area is likely to be a big hit with your little ones, it’s not a very long walk.

I would recommend splurging on a Savanna View room. I love sitting on our balcony with a cold drink and a book while my son naps, watching the animals go about their day in the savanna right in front of me.

Some of the fun and unique activities at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are: flamingo feedings at the Flamingo Pond, wildlife games in the Sunset Lounge, African games and crafts at the Uzima Pool Deck (at Jambo House), animal viewing with night vision goggles and nightly African storytelling at the Arusha Rock Fire Pit. For more information, please consult the Resort Guide that you’ll also receive at check-in.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
